this is the 4th post in a series: Fabulous Furniture, read all of the posts here.

   If you are aren’t a fan of change, hang on to your chair…. I thrive on change.

 I rearrange my furniture at least once a week, and I love to shop the house to create “new” looks.  If you don’t love what you see, then try shopping your house and use what you have to create a new look.  About 99% of the decor in my home came from Goodwill, Auction, or Estate Sales.  I love owning pieces that aren’t in every home in America, and you really can find great pieces for under $10.

Custom Build Bookcases by my Dad & Grandpa

   My Dad & Grandpa custom built these bookcases for me about 6 months before my Dad died, and they mean so much to me.  I’ve filled them (too much by looking at this picture) with things that I love.  The white horse was $4 at an Estate Sale, the antique cash register was $5 at a Flea Market, Silver platters were collected from various Goodwill stores.  This picture was taken in early August, and I’ve moved these 2 times since then- and completely rearranged what is on each shelf.  My point?  Decorate with what you love, and if you are bored with it- rearrange.  Try something new.  What’s the worst that could happen? ;0)

    I didn’t like the way my books looked, so I wrapped them in scrapbook paper from Hobby Lobby.  You can buy books at Good will for .99cents and then use a sheet of .30 cent paper to create this look.  I loved those vintage doorknobs, and until I find the perfect project for them- I’ll enjoy looking at them lined up.

   I’ve moved all of these pieces all over my house several times until I loved what I saw.

{And then a couple weeks later I got bored and did it all again, but I have issues}

Flea MArket Mirrors & a Gorgeous stool by Metamorphose Studios

    If you don’t love what you see, shop your house and check out Goodwill, Flea Markets, and Estate Sales.  Find pieces that you love that aren’t in everyone else’s homes, and pay a fraction of what those mass produced pieces cost.

Check back tomorrow for more Fabulous Furniture Tips & Ideas for your home.

    You are so right! I have collected so many things over the years that I could redo every room at least once a month. That is if I clear out all my projects in progress first :-) Love your bookcases.
