31 Days of Fabulous Furniture {Day 14: Paint}

Ok, now that your furniture is prepped and ready- let’s talk about paint. My favorite brand is Behr ~ sold at The Home Depot. I don’t love to customer service at most of the Home Depots I’ve shopped at, but the paint is the.best. I promise. :0) I prefer Behr premium plus ultra (paint with primer in one). Every color I’ve used has been excellent coverage in 2 coats, and the way the paint settles makes an excellent smooth finish without brush strokes. If you’ve had trouble in the past with brush strokes, give Behr a try. I always buy Interior Satin.

My other secret weapon is the Purdy Cub paintbrush. {LOVE} These are fitted to your hand and have a great thumb spot. The angled edge is great for trim and details on furniture too.

A few of my favorite Behr Colors:

Charismatic (yellow)

Black Suede (black)

Powdered Snow (white)

Tuscan Russett (deep red)

Caribe (peacock aqua)

Green Energy (mossy green)

and one I can’t wait to try… Spiced Plum (deep plum)

This weekend was my first time using the Behr Premium Plus. WOW! I was stunned by the difference in it and other paints. It was amazing.

The sample pot that I’d purchased in the oops bin for fifty cents covered one antique mirror frame, a wooden stool, and a breadbox – and there’s still 1/4 of the paint left.

I purchased both of your e-books and plan to start painting some furniture pieces of my own. I bought the Behr black suede and powdered snow as suggested. But, I’d really like to have an antique or off white color for some of my pieces. Is the powdered snow true white (I have not used mine yet) or do you have a suggestion for a more ivory or antique white?

I thank God for inspiring you to make this blog, I just love it! Thank for you sharing the important info on the paint because I was only using spray paint and was always nervous about using paint brushes b/c of the brushstrokes left behind.

Came across Altar’d tonight and oh how blessed i have been! Your testimony is amazing and i can tell that God is using you through those horrible times for his glory! I love to paint furniture and i need to learn alot so i’m so happy to have found Altar’d!
